NBC jabs Twitter over Elon Musk's hiring of top executive, saying "they just let all the crazies back in"
On Monday, NBCUniversal took a swipe at Twitter, just a few days after the resignation of NBCU's top ad chief, who joined Elon Musk's social media platform.
At an upfront event, where the network showcases its upcoming programming to attract advertisers, NBC introduced Ted, the teddy bear from the 2012 comedy of the same name, as part of its opening remarks.
During the presentation, Ted quipped, "TV is the true way. Who needs all those Instagram ads? Twitter may seem like the place to begin, but Twitter just let all the crazies back in," according to Axios media reporter Kerry Flynn, who was present at the event.
Variety reported that the audience reacted with laughter to the comment, which comes after the high-profile departure of NBCU's ad chief, Linda Yaccarino, who resigned last week to become the CEO of Twitter, replacing Elon Musk.
NBCUniversal claimed that the timing of their remarks was coincidental to Linda Yaccarino's departure, according to a statement provided to Insider.
"The video was produced long before the news about Linda was known," NBCUniversal stated.
Insider reached out to Twitter for comment on the matter, but only received an automated response that did not address the inquiry.
