'Air' Set to Stream on Prime Video Next Week
Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports, Mandalay Pictures, and Artists Equity's 'Air' will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting May 12th in over 240 countries, following its 38-day run in theaters. The film, directed and starring Ben Affleck, follows Nike's efforts to sign a young Michael Jordan to create the iconic Air Jordan shoe. 'Air' marks Amazon's return to theatrical releases after implementing a day-and-date strategy. The movie opened to $20.2 million over the five-day Easter holiday and has since grossed over $47.6 million in the US. It holds a 92% Certified Fresh Tomatometer rating among critics, a 98% verified audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and an A CinemaScore.
In the movie, Matt Damon portrays Sonny Vaccaro, an unconventional executive at Nike, while Affleck takes on the role of Phil Knight, the co-founder of the company. Other notable cast members include Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser, Chris Messina as David Falk, Matthew Maher as Peter Moore, Marlon Wayans as George Raveling, Chris Tucker as Howard White, Viola Davis as Deloris Jordan, and Gustaf Skarsgård as Horst Dassler, among others. This film marks the first time that Affleck directed his Good Will Hunting co-writer and Oscar-winning actor Damon in a movie.
