Patti LuPone has expressed her disapproval of Kim Kardashian's upcoming role in "American Horror Story," and she has not hesitated to share her thoughts on the matter. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on Sunday, April 23, the 74-year-old Broadway legend was asked about her opinion on Kardashian's casting during a game of "Do! They! Give a Damn!?"
When host Andy Cohen asked if LuPone cared about Kardashian's participation in the FX series, the Tony Award winner answered, "Yes, I do." Cohen then asked if LuPone didn't like it, to which she promptly replied, "No, I don't."
When prompted by the Bravo executive, LuPone confirmed one of the reasons for her discontent with the reality star's casting. LuPone expressed that Kardashian is taking roles away from established actors. "Excuse me, excuse me, Kim," the 30 Rock alum said. "What are you doing with your life?"
The Juilliard School graduate further added, "Don't get on the stage, Mrs. Worthington," referencing a Noël Coward song about an overbearing stage mother who wants her untalented daughter to pursue a career in theater. The lyrics read, "For her to hope / Dear Mrs. Worthington / Is, on the face of it, absurd. / Her personality / Is not, in reality / Exciting enough / Inviting enough / For this particular sphere."
After answering the question about Kardashian, fellow guest John Leguizamo chimed in to express his agreement with LuPone's sentiments. "Whatever she said, I double the emotion," Leguizamo added.
Earlier this month, Ryan Murphy, co-creator of AHS, announced that Kim Kardashian, alongside his frequent collaborator Emma Roberts, would be joining the cast of season 12 of the long-running series. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter on April 10, Murphy, 57, expressed his excitement for Kardashian's involvement, stating, "Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family. Emma and I are excited to collaborate with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish, and ultimately terrifying role, especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done."
Roberts, 32, later teased the upcoming season on Instagram, writing, "This summer... Kim and I are DELICATE."
