Eva Mendes did not complain about her life undergoing a radical overhaul after having kids. However, the actress admitted that she never really wanted to have babies until Ryan Gosling walked into her life and fell in love with him. The couple shares two daughters, including Amada Lee, 4, and Esmeralda Amada, 6.
The Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror star made this revelation during an interview with Nova 96.9's Fitzy & Wippa. She went on to explain that she didn't mean to send a wrong message to young women about taking a break in their careers, adding that it is not an "either-or situation."
Eva Mendes said she was lucky to be able to work twenty years and never wanted to have babies until she met Ryan. The actress said she was forty when she had her first baby and 42 when she gave birth to their second child. Much to her relief, things worked out for Mendes in a way that allowed her to have a career and then switched her focus to her family, Entertainment Times reported.
Eva Mendes made her last appearance in Gosling-directed film Lost River in 2014, but after a lengthy hiatus, she is now considering to go back to acting, given that her daughters are older. However, she will not play the same kind of roles she did earlier. Speaking of the shortlist of things she would do, Mendes said she isn't willing to do anything violent, nor something risqué.
She went on to suggest that the only thing she can probably do is Disney, adding that people shouldn't carry on certain stereotypes. Eva Mendes said all that she wants is that her husband directs another film and then hires her. She first teased the possibility of returning in front of the camera during an interview on The Sydney Morning Herald in Oct., where she revealed that her ambition to act had come back.
Although Mendes lauded women who could do it all, she said she wasn't one of those women. She said she has a choice not to work and realizes how fortunate she is to be able to choose not to work, she said.
Eva Mendes pointed out that her babies are now 4 and 6 years old, and her ambition to face the camera is coming back. In an interview with Entertainment Times earlier this year, Mendes said she would consider a Disney role for her daughters.
