Eddie Hassell, the 30-year-old, who starred in NBC's TV series Surface was killed early Sunday morning in Texas over what appears to be a carjacking, TMZ has told.
The actor was yet to become a breakout star but had starred in a number of TV shows such Devious Maids, The Kids Are All Right, Family Weekend.
Eddie Hassell had a number of cameos in American series such as 2012, Longmire, Jobs, Bones, Southland and Warrior Road.
During his acting career, Eddie Hassell was nominated for a Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Acting Ensemble.
Eddie Hassell also had a bit role in the Golden Globe-winning 'The Kids Are All Right' in 2010, which also earned a Best Picture Oscar nomination.
Tributes to the star were being shared on social media as news of his passing began to spread.
Producers of Bomb City film shared their sorrow at Eddie's death.
Posting on Twitter, they wrote: "We are devastated to learn that one of our lead actors and family members was taken from us this morning way too soon.
"Please keep us and Eddie’s family in your prayers. #eddiehassell #bombcity #punkangel"
Away from acting, Eddie Hassell was an keen surfer and skateboarder.
He spoke about his passison in a 2013 interview with Elle: "Skateboarding’s been a huge part of my life, it also got me cast in commercials.
"I was into horseback riding and rodeos in Texas and when I moved to LA, I got into skating.
"I did all my own stunts. I’m into anything with a board: surfing, wakeboarding."
